Bethesda Film Fest—Friday and Saturday—Imagination Stage, Bethesda
The seventh annual Bethesda Film Fest returns this weekend and will feature five documentaries by local filmmakers. There will be three screenings: Friday at 7 p.m. (sold out), and Saturday at 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. Q&As with the filmmakers will follow each screening. Tickets are $10.
An Act of God—Friday and Saturday—The Highwood Theatre, Silver Spring
The audience votes to determine the actors’ roles in this satirical comedy about God taking on human form. There are shows Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m., and the show production continues through April 28. The show contains themes and language that may not be suitable for children. Tickets are $15, and patrons can buy packages to see the show multiple times, with different actors, for a discount.
Appropriate—Friday through Sunday—Silver Spring Stage
Winner of the 2014-2015 Obie Award for Best New American Play, Appropriate follows a dysfunctional family and their plight to settle the estate of their deceased patriarch. Opening night is Friday at 8 p.m. There’s additional showings Saturday at 8 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m. The production continues through April 28. Adult tickets are $25.
Gina Chavez—Sunday night—AMP by Strathmore
Austin musician and NPR Tiny Desk veteran Gina Chevaz will perform bilingual folk-pop Sunday at 8 p.m. Billboard premiered the music video for her song, “Heaven Knows.” Tickets range from $25 to $30.
