Updated: Wednesday has been a rough one for drivers on Interstate 270, with two separate incidents forcing road closures.

The State Highway Administration reported a crash on Route 109 at exit 22 that closed all lanes northbound on I-270. The incident occurred around 8:45 a.m. near Clarksburg.

Two county police motorcycle officers were involved in the incident, the department reported. Both were transported to a local hospital with minor injuries.

The crash occurred during an escort training exercise, police said. One officer encountered an issue and put the motorcycle down, then a second officer did the same to avoid a collision.

The SHA reported all lanes were reopened about four hours later.

Shortly after 11 a.m., a piece of construction equipment overturned on I-270 between Montgomery Village Avenue and Middlebrook Road in Germantown, county Fire and Rescue Service spokesman Pete Piringer reported.

The front-end loader rolled down an embankment where an interchange is being built at Watkins Mill Road, Piringer reported.

Some northbound lanes were once again blocked northbound on I-270, Piringer reported. No one was injured.
