Coffee shop Java Nation is coming to North Bethesda in August, taking the former Helen’s restaurant location.
A sign along Rockville Pike announced the shop is coming soon, and Java Nation said in an Instagram post over the weekend it is opening a second location.
The site at 11120 Rockville Pike was most recently a concept from Washington, D.C., caterer Helen Wasserman, who took over the building following the departure of Addie’s restaurant, a creation of restaurateur Jeff Black.
The lone Java Nation location is at 10516 Connecticut Ave., serving espressos and machiatos along with omelettes, sandwiches and wraps. The shop also has Latin food such as pupusas and beef tacos, and happy hours from 3-5 p.m. when beer and wine is 15 percent off.
Java Nation roasts its own coffee. The interior features works from nearby artists.
The shop opened in April 2014, and owners Henry and Simona Cabana plan to continue expanding in the county.
The North Bethesda location will be a bit different than the Kensington cafe as the company expands its coffee roasting operation, a “roastery and social house,” Henry Cabana said.
The hope is to add locations in Silver Spring and Bethesda, along with another one in the Rockville area, Cabana said.
