Transportation official calls for additional bridge after Beltway backup

A tanker truck crash along the American Legion Bridge on Thursday stopped traffic for several hours, halting commuters from Maryland, Virginia and the District. National Capital Transportation Planning Board and Northern Virginia Transportation Authority chairman Marty Nohe is pushing public officials to consider another bridge connecting Maryland and Virginia to avoid traffic future issues caused by major accidents. Local legislators want say in toll lane proposal

Toll lanes would be another way to alleviate traffic concerns on the Beltway and I-270, but county officials fear they along with residents haven’t had enough input in the discussions, with talks going on primarily at the state level. “That has created an enormous amount of fear and anxiety in Silver Spring and elsewhere,” county council member Tom Hucker said. County swim school continues to grow

Run by college swimmer and former financial professional Denise Dombay, SwimLabs in Gaithersburg has attracted around 400 swimmers since it opened in September. The school offers lessons for kids and adults, individually and in group sessions, including film study provided by submerged cameras. [Washington Business Journal]
