Madeline & The Bad Hat—Saturday and Sunday—Olney Theatre Center
Olney Theatre Center’s production of this musical riff of a children’s classic takes place this weekend. The show is recommended for children in kindergarten through third grade. The 10 a.m. Saturday performance is sensory-friendly for people with sound and light sensitivities. There are additional performances this weekend at noon and 3 p.m. Saturday, and noon and 3 p.m. Sunday. Tickets are $10 for members and $20 full price.
A Tribute to Louis Armstrong—Saturday night—The Music Center at Strathmore
Trumpet soloist Byron Stripling will play tribute to jazz icon Louis Armstrong with a performance of his greatest hits Saturday at 8 p.m. Stripling will close the show with Armstrong’s trademark version of “When The Saints Go Marchin’ In.” The show is produced by The National Philharmonic. Child and student tickets are $10; adult tickets start at $44.
The Emotions—Sunday—Bethesda Blues & Jazz Supper Club
There are two opportunities Sunday to see the Grammy-award winning R&B and soul group: 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. The Emotions collaborated with Earth, Wind & Fire on the Billboard Hot 100 hit “Boogie Wonderland.” The girl group has been sampled by Kanye West, A Tribe Called Quest and Notorious BIG. Tickets range from $59.50 to $79.50.
