Atlanta’s Catholic archbishop in line to become Washington area’s leader

Citing sources, a Catholic News Agency report says Archbishop Wilton Gregory of Atlanta is expected to be appointed the  next Archbishop of Washington, which covers congregations in Montgomery County and other suburbs. [Catholic News Agency]

State adopts $15 minimum wage

By overriding Gov. Larry Hogan’s veto, Maryland became the sixth state to adopt a $15 minimum wage.

Under the bill, companies with 15 or more employees must pay workers at least $15 an hour by 2025. Smaller companies have until July 2026 to comply. [Washington Post]

Rockville man accused of raping 85-year-old woman

A Rockville man was arrested after allegedly raping an 85-year-old woman with dementia.

Nurses noticed signs she may have been sexually assaulted during a medical check-up March 14. The suspect is 62-year-old Michael Eubanks. [Fox 5]

Lawmakers bid farewell to Sen. Will Smith

As senators concluded a floor session Thursday, they wished Sen. Will Smith well as he heads out on a deployment to Afghanistan with the Navy Reserve.

Smith, a Montgomery County Democrat, is expected to return in November.
