A Damascus woman died after her car collided head-on with a van Thursday morning on a winding, rural two-lane road near Clarksburg.
County police said Nancy Soraya Moreno, 49, was driving eastbound on Hawkes Road when her Honda collided with a westbound Chevrolet Express van.
The collision just before 10 a.m. blocked Hawkes Road while rescue crews tended to Moreno and two men in the work van, fire and rescue spokesman Pete Piringer said.
Moreno was taken to a local hospital, where she died, police said.

The Germantown man driving the van and a front-seat passenger suffered minor injuries, police said.
Police are investigating and have not determined a cause.
