Police Blotter: Cash Taken from Bethesda Restaurant; Department Store Robbed in Silver Spring

Crimes reported to Montgomery County and Rockville police from March 3 through March 9

Bethesda

Thefts from vehicles

Cash was taken from a vehicle in the 3600 block of Underwood Street between 5 p.m. March 2 and 9:30 p.m. March 3. No forced entry was reported.

Cash and property were taken from four vehicles between March 2 and 8. Thefts occurred on Chase Avenue and Fairglen and Battery lanes. No forced entry was reported.

Property was taken from three vehicles between Feb. 24 and March 3. Thefts occurred on Overlea Road, Chevy Chase and Pepperell drives. Forced entry was reported in one event.

Cash and property were taken from multiple vehicles between March 7 and 9. Thefts occurred on Hall Court and in the 9900 block of Bluegrass Road. No forced entry was reported.

Commercial burglaries

Cash was taken from The Daily Dish restaurant at 8301 Grubb Road at 12:11 a.m. March 4. Forced entry was reported, the suspect kicked a glass panel and entered through the opening.

Vehicle thefts

A vehicle was taken from the area of Old Georgetown Road and Woodmont Avenue between 11:45 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. March 7. Entry was not known.

A vehicle was taken from the 10500 block of Metropolitan Avenue between 4:15 p.m. March 2 and 7 a.m. March 4. Entry was not known.

Commercial burglary

Property was taken from a storage unit at Gude Self Storage at 851 East Gude Drive between 7:34 p.m. March 6 and 5 p.m. March 8. Forced entry was reported.

Residential burglary

Property was taken from a residence in the 200 block of Rose Petal Way at 7:59 p.m. March 9. Forced entry was reported.

Residential burglary

A bicycle was taken from a shed in the 300 block of Lorraine Drive between 6 p.m. March 2 and 9 a.m. March 3. No forced entry was reported, the shed was reportedly unlocked.

Taiwanese currency and jewelry were taken from a residence in the 300 block of Autumn Wind Way during the reporting period. Forced entry was reported.

Silver Spring

Thefts from vehicles

Property was taken from multiple vehicles during the reporting period on Cameron, Bonifant and Fenton streets; Georgia, Thayer and Ramsey avenues; Pershing Drive and East West Highway. Forced entry was reported in multiple events.

Cash and property were taken from four vehicles between March 4 and 9. Thefts occurred on Hildarose Drive, Bradford Road, Plymouth Street, and Carroll, Glen, Dennis and McKenney avenues. Forced entry was reported in three events.

Vehicle theft

A vehicle was taken from the 8700 block of Cameron Street at 1:30 a.m. and 3:45 p.m. March 3. The vehicle was reportedly unlocked with the key inside.

Commercial armed robbery

Cash and merchandise was taken from T.J. Maxx at 8661 Colesville Road at 1:53 p.m. March 5. The suspect displayed a handgun in his waistband, then pointed it at a security officer as he fled the store.

Property was taken from a Pepco construction site at 11107 New Hampshire Ave. between midnight Feb. 15 and 6 a.m. March 4. Forced entry was reported.

Strong-arm robbery

Two suspects assaulted a male victim and took his property in the area of Old Columbia Pike and Hollyhock Way at 2:45 p.m. March 4.
