Ridgewells Catering, a nearly century-old upscale caterer serving the greater Washington area, announced Friday that it plans to remain in its Bethesda headquarters.
The company, which caters to primarily high-end corporate and private events, had been searching for a new headquarters for two years.
The company said it worked with the Montgomery County Economic Development Corp. during the search process and ultimately determined that the current building, which is more than 27,000 square feet, was most suitable and plans a renovation of the Dorsey Lane building.
“We’re excited to be staying in Montgomery County, as it is centrally located to all our customers,” said Susan Lacz, CEO and Principal of Ridgewells, in a statement. “We have 90 years of history as a leading regional caterer, and staying in Montgomery County will enable us to better serve our clients for the long future.”
Ridgewells is receiving a $100,000 grant from the economic development corporation to help with the renovations.
“Ridgewells Catering is an important name in the thriving Montgomery County hospitality industry,” said MCEDC President and CEO David Petr in a statement. “We welcome the company’s decision to extend their lease and we are committed to helping them continue to grow here.”
Ridgewells was founded in 1928 and has been in Bethesda since the 1970s. Clients have included politicians, Arena Stage theater, Strathmore and others.
The company has also catered large events such as the Super Bowl and the U.S. Open golf tournament.
