Potomac man, accused of killing his uncle, at large

Police are looking for Osman Kalokoh, a 20-year-old Potomac man who has been suspected of killing his uncle Sunday morning in Prince George’s County. Alee Calokoh, 69, was shot and killed on the 900 block of Alcona Street in Lanham, police say, and another woman was injured. Police say the suspect is considered armed and dangerous [WTOP].

Manger reflects on 42 years in law enforcement

Outgoing Montgomery County Police Chief Tom Manger says police tactics have changed tremendously in 42 years on the force, including a decrease  in the use of tasers. Manger, who has served as police chief since 2004, says he doesn’t think local police should ask people about their immigration status, and says his best advice to his successor is to be a part of the community [WTOP].

Smith prepares for Afghanistan deployment

State Sen. Will Smith, a Montgomery Democrat, is preparing for his first deployment to a war zone. The 37-year-old is scheduled to leave for Afghanistan at the end of the month, nearly 18 years after 9/11, when he decided to enlist in the Naval Reserve [Washington Post].
