The Manhattan Strategy Group has new collaborative office space in downtown Bethesda.
The office at 4340 East West Highway has three conference rooms, two types of workstations, a wellness room and a game room, according to an MSG new release. The move was a short one, just about a mile from the previous office at 8120 Woodmont Ave.
The company has 62 employees.
“This new office was designed with specific ideas about how our expanded team could utilize the space,” MSG founder and President Shezad Habib said in a statement. “We chose to create bright and inviting areas that would promote innovation, collaboration and efficiency among our employees.”
The company was founded in New York in 2001, and has advised federal agencies in the fields of education, workforce development and human services since 2008.
MSG researches and assists with government programs in several departments, including assessing errors in the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Child and Adult Food Care Program and training agencies that operate the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Temporary Assistance for Needy Families initiatives.
Marriott International announces growth plan
In the next three years, Bethesda-based Marriott International plans to open more than 1,700 hotels around the world, according to a Monday announcement.
Marriott will add between 275,000 and 295,000 rooms from 2019 to 2021, along with around 214,000 rooms already under construction.
The company currently has more than 6,900 properties across 130 countries.
State unemployment rates lowest since 2008
Maryland added 3,100 jobs in January and the unemployment rate is down to 3.7 percent, according to U.S. Department of Labor’s Bureau of Labor Statistics survey data released last week.
The state’s rate is below the current national mark by 0.3 percent and the lowest rate in Maryland since April 2008.
Year-over-year comparisons show an increase of 23,500 jobs, with growth in every sector except for construction, business services and manufacturing.
The education sector had the largest job gain – 1,700. Health services followed, adding 1,400 jobs.
