Construction worker saved from trench in Germantown

The man was buried up to his chest at an excavation site on Germantown Road between Middlebrook Road and Wisteria Drive around 4 p.m. Crews were able to rescue him in about an hour, and he was taken hospital trauma center. [WTOP]

Local lawmakers oppose tax exemption for museums

The bill repeals a tax break prohibition for organizations using more than 100 acres of land. It would cover all of Maryland, but was meant to benefit the fine arts museum Glenstone in the Potomac area. The County Council and county executive both submitted testimony against the legislation because of lost revenue. [Maryland Matters]

County still in running for Department of Agriculture sites

The department is moving two subagencies out of the District after struggling to recruit in the area. It recently narrowed the list of applicants in half, down to 67 potential sites, and the bid from the Montgomery County Economic Development Corp. made the cut. [Business Journal]
