Women’s Taproom Takeover—Friday—Denizens Brewing Co., Silver Spring
The Silver Spring brewery will feature its new beer “Never Doubt” for International Women’s Day. The Brut IPA gets its name from Hillary Clinton’s 2016 concession speech. Fifteen percent of sales of the beer will go to Silver Spring nonprofit Community Bridges Inc. The event begins at 7 p.m.; admission is free.

Bernard/Ebb Songwriting Awards—Friday night—Bethesda Blues & Jazz Supper Club
The fifth annual competition for the best songwriter in Maryland, Virginia and Washington, D.C. is Friday at 7:30 p.m. The grand prize winner will take away $10,000 and 25 hours of studio time. Tickets start at $15.
“Heathers: The Musical”—Friday through Sunday—Gaithersburg Arts Barn
The Arts Barn’s production of the cult-classic opens this weekend. The play is based on the 1989 film that follows a group of mean high school girls in the 80s. Tickets are $22.
