County Council to take final vote on outdoor smoking ban
The Montgomery County Council is scheduled to take action on a bill that would ban smoking in outdoor serving areas at its meeting Tuesday morning. Also at the meeting, council member Evan Glass will introduce legislation that prohibits the county from asking about past salary histories when interviewing candidates for government positions. The bill also prohibits a position’s salary from being based on its previous salary. The meeting begins at 9:30 a.m. in Rockville.
County Council to hold public hearing on police accountability
The Montgomery County Council will hold a public hearing on police-community relations at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday at the council chambers in Rockville. The hearing will center on a bill proposed by council member Will Jawando that would require an independent investigation be conducted for all officer-involved deaths.
Friedson to host online town hall
Montgomery County Council member Andrew Friedson will host an online chat session on Facebook live starting at Noon on Wednesday, where he will respond to questions and comments. Participants can log on to Facebook, search for the official Councilmember Andrew Friedson Page (@CouncilmemberAndrewFriedson), and access the Facebook Live video posted on the Page’s timeline.
Civic group to hold transportation forum Saturday
Do the Most Good, a progressive group that focuses on transportation and the environment, will hold a forum on 21st century transportation needs in Montgomery County at 10 a.m. Saturday at Newport Mill Middle School in Kensington. Among the panelists will be Council Council member Tom Hucker and state Del. Vaughn Stewart, a Derwood Democrat. Former state senator and Democratic congressional candidate Aruna Miller will moderate.
