State police say weather possibly a factor as SUV spins, is hit by truck

March 1, 2019 9:30 p.m.

A Silver Spring man was killed and two others were injured in a collision with a tractor-trailer early Friday morning, state police said.

Linh Khuong, 47, of Silver Spring, was in the front passenger seat of a Chevrolet Traverse SUV when it spun out of control and crossed into the right lane of northbound Interstate 95 at Route 1.

The SUV was then struck by a tractor-trailer and pushed across all lanes into the concrete median barrier, police said.

Investigators believe inclement weather may have contributed to the collision.

Beltway traffic was snarled for nearly four hours following the 3:50 a.m. collision as lanes in the area were closed for a police investigation.

Khuong was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the SUV, Hoang Nguyen, 49, and passenger Duoc Vo, 49, both of Silver Spring, were taken to University of Maryland Prince George’s Hospital Center for treatment.

The driver of the tractor-trailer was not injured.
