Coast Guard officer indicted for his possession of gun silencers

Coast Guard lieutenant Christopher P. Hasson, 49, of Silver Spring, was indicted by a federal grand jury Wednesday after court documents showed had gun silencers among his supply of weapons that he possessed. Hasson, a self-described white nationalist, was arrested Feb. 15 in connection with charges that he was planning a mass shooting against several journalists and lawmakers. [Washington Post]

Man accused of attempting to break into Rockville gun store arrested while another flees

Police arrested Dominique Canty, 19, of Southeast Washington, early Wednesday morning after they say he and an accomplice attempted to burglarize the United Gun Shop on the 5400 block of Randolph Road in Rockville. Police were notified of the attempted break-in by the store’s surveillance system, and then chased the two suspects from Montrose Road to the intersection of Georgia Avenue and Grace Church Road. The second suspect fled and remains at-large. This is the second attempted burglary of United Gun Shop in two weeks, with the first also involving a police chase and arrest of Tievon Henderson, 24, of Southeast Washington on Feb. 12. [WJLA]

Montgomery Village man arrested after being accused of inappropriately touching woman at spa

Montgomery County police arrested Joshua Weston Johnson, of Montgomery Village, Friday after he was accused of inappropriately touching a woman at a spa where he worked as a massage therapist in the Kentlands neighborhood. Johnson, 36, was charged with fourth degree sex offense and second degree assault. [Washington Post]
