Updated Monday: A woman was seriously injured Saturday night in a fire that caused “significant damage” to a single-story brick house in the Forest Glen Park neighborhood, county fire authorities said.
Crews arriving found “significant fire in the back of the house” on Holman Avenue and rescued a woman who was inside less than 10 minutes after they arrived, according to Pete Piringer, a spokesman for the fire service.
Investigators found the fire originated in the kitchen, but still haven’t determined the cause. The damage was estimated at $75,000 to the structure and $25,000 to the contents of the house.
About 75 firefighters were called at around 6:20 p.m. and the blaze was under control in about 15 minutes.
There was no evidence of working smoke detectors in the 69-year-old house, the fire service said.
The woman, who was not identified, was taken to a hospital trauma center for treatment of smoke inhalation and was in stable condition, the fire service said.
Another woman in the house got out.
