A Rockville man accused of killing his mother will remain in jail after his preliminary court hearing was waived on Friday morning.
Ousmane Camara, 26, was charged with first-degree murder after police found him with blood on his hands and the body of 52-year-old Arabia Camara in another room of their Aspen Hill home in January.
Camara’s hearing in Rockville District Court was held via a video link from a county detention center. He introduced himself when asked but not saying anything else. He was represented by Melanie Creedon of the public defender’s office, who said she is waiting to receive additional documents about the case.
Judge John Moffett waived the hearing and set a control date for March 22, where the status of the case will be reviewed and a trial date may be determined.
Camara will stay behind bars without bond.
According to papers filed in court last month, Camara confessed to stabbing his mother after detectives read him his rights to have an attorney and remain silent.
