Weekend Events: Play in a Day at Imagination Stage

In the Next Room, or the Vibrator Play—Friday through Saturday—Silver Spring Stage
Silver Spring Stage’s production of the Sarah Ruhl play opens Friday at 8 p.m. The play is a comedy, and follows Dr. Givings and his new device for treating “hysteria.” There is an additional showing this weekend Saturday at 8 p.m. Tickets start at $22.

Play in a Day—Saturday—Imagination Stage, Bethesda
Six Washington-area theater companies will perform original mini-plays written in only 24 hours. The 15th annual Play in a Day performance begins at 8 p.m.; tickets are $15.

Once—Friday through Sunday—Olney Theatre
Olney Theatre’s production of the Broadway hit Once continues this weekend. The play is set in contemporary Dublin, and follows two musicians and the relationship that blossoms between them. The 2006 film the play is based on won an Oscar for Best Original Song. Tickets start at $54. There are four performances this weekend: 8 p.m. Friday, 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. Saturday, and 2 p.m. Sunday.

Snowed Inn—Saturday night—Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center, Washington, D.C.
The Children’s Inn at NIH’s party will include an open bar, games and a silent auction. The event runs 8 p.m. to midnight. A regular ticket costs $125. The suggested attire is “winter chic.”
