Lebanese Taverna, the restaurant at Congressional Plaza in Rockville, will move a few spaces over and transition to the company’s new fast-casual concept at the end of February.
LEB TAV will be located next to Ulta, with additional outdoor seating near Modern Market. The restaurant will be decorated with a patterned tile mosaic décor.
The Silver Spring Lebanese Taverna will also be moving and reopening as a LEB TAV in the spring. There’s already a LEB TAV in Annapolis, with additional locations coming to the Washington area later this year.
The LEB TAV menus are a bit smaller, but still have many of the Lebanese Taverna items, as well as grab-and-go Deli Case options.
New executive chef revamps Owen’s Ordinary menu
Jonathan Collins took over at the North Bethesda restaurant in September.
He previously worked at French bistro Rebelle in New York and as sous chef at gastropub Radiator at the Kimpton Mason & Rook hotel in the District.
Collins has made several additions to the Owen’s menu, including suckling pig and seared Virginia scallops dishes, both adorned with a favorite of accompaniments. He also added a rotating burger of the week inspired by items found in farmers markets.
Fish Taco celebrating National Margarita Day
In honor of the occasion on Feb. 22, all three taqueria locations will have their frozen and on the rocks margaritas for $5 all day long.
The restaurants are in Bethesda, one in Wildwood Shopping Center, another on MacArthur Boulevard and the third on Woodmont Avenue.
Manna Food Center collects over 28,000 pounds of food
The food bank announced the results of its Martin Luther King Jr. Service Weekend Food Drive last week. The 28,542 pounds of food collected was an 87 percent increase from last year’s donations.
More than 200 volunteers along with 20 elected officials collected food at 20 Giant Food locations across the county, according to a Manna Food Center news release.
“We witnessed the strength and compassion of our community during MLK Service Weekend,” Manna Food Center CEO Jackie DeCarlo said in a statement. “Many were motivated to help because of the government shutdown, including our long-term partner Giant Food. The shutdown opened the public’s eyes to ongoing issues around food insecurity here in Montgomery County.”
The Westfield Wheaton location led all collection sites with 3,114 pounds of food.
