Federal Realty announced Thursday that West Elm will be arriving in fall 2019 at Pike & Rose.
Focused on modern design and affordability, the store has a line of home furnishings and accessories. West Elm’s 11,572-square-foot store will be between Pinstripes and The Block.
This will be West Elm’s third location in the Washington region; others are in Baltimore and the District. The store will have products created by local makers and offer workshops hosted by nearby artists and businesses.
“Federal Realty seeks to create a merchant mix that compliments the neighborhood offerings and environments in which we create, and we’re excited that West Elm has chosen Pike & Rose as its regional retail destination in Montgomery County,” Federal Realty Senior Vice President of Leasing Stuart Biel said in a statement.
Tech company opens in Gaithersburg
TeamLogic IT opened a location at 12105 Darnestown Road on Feb. 8.
Founded in 2004, the company has more 100 locations across the country, including franchises in Bethesda and Rockville.
TeamLogic IT offers insight and consultation for cloud services, cybersecurity, mobility and other technology services.
The Gaithersburg-Germantown Chamber of Commerce supported the company for its grand opening. TeamLogic IT owner Chip-Yong Ng received a proclamation on Montgomery County Executive Marc Elrich’s behalf from Universities at Shady Grove Director of Economic Development John Zuknick.
Marriott International makes Fortune list
Bethesda-based Marriott International was ranked 31 in a Fortune magazine list of the 100 Best Companies to Work For 2019.
Fortune research partner Great Place to Work compiled the list based on factors such as company perks, diversity and opportunities for innovation.
Fortune then highlighted the seven companies on the list that also topped 100,000 employees. Marriott International came in second on this list behind Publix Super Markets.
Marriott International has 133,238 employees, according to the Fortune report.
Local running club partnering with Federal Realty
The Montgomery County Road Runners Club is working with Federal Realty to host its 23rd annual Pike’s Peek 10K race festival at Pike & Rose.
The race begins at Shady Grove Metro station and finishes at the shopping mall. Pike & Rose will have post-race festivities including food, music and exhibits. It will also have a Kid’s Fun Run.
“We are thrilled to team with Pike & Rose for a second year to conduct this annual rite of spring,” MCRRC President Mike Acuna said in a statement. “To make things even sweeter, this year’s race has been selected as the site for the 2019. That means you’ll see the fastest runners in the state compete for bragging rights as the Maryland state 10K champions in their respective age groups.”
MCCRC has more than 4,000 members and has a race schedule featuring distances ranging from 1 to 50 miles.
