Craig Rice to hold budget forum for county schools Wednesday
Montgomery County Council member Craig Rice, who chairs the council’s Education and Culture Committee, will hold the first of five public forums on the Montgomery County Public Schools fiscal 2020 budget Wednesday night at Neelsville Middle School in Germantown. The event is from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Also present will be Superintendent Jack Smith and Montgomery College President DeRionne Pollard.
Andrew Kleine to hold town hall on Elrich’s first year
Andrew Kleine, County Executive Marc Elrich’s chief administrative officer, will give a public presentation to the Montgomery County Taxpayer’s League on the county executive’s plans for his first year in office. The meeting will be held at the Council Office Building in Rockville at 7 p.m.
County council to hold Metro town hall Thursday
The Montgomery County Council’s Transportation and Environment Committee will hold a town hall meeting at the Silver Spring Civic Center at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 21. Representatives from the Washington Metropolitan Transit Authority will discuss a variety of service improvements they hope to implement over the course of the next year, including flat weekend fares, a transition to eight-car trains only and adding 30 minutes of increased service during morning and evening rush hours.
Rockville City Council vacancy application period closes Friday
The application period for candidates hoping to fill a vacancy on the Rockville City Council closes at 5 p.m. Friday. Candidates must submit a narrative detailing their background, relevant experience and priorities, all limited to 1,000 words. They must also submit a financial disclosure statement. Interviews will then be conducted at the mayor and council’s headquarters in Rockville on March 2 and March 5.
