State focused on toll lanes in plan to widen Beltway, I-270

As part of a controversial plan to widen lanes on the Capital Beltway and Interstate 270, state officials say they intend to focus on the implementation of toll lanes on each highway and abandon earlier considerations of more general-purpose lanes, bus rapid transit and bus-only lanes. Rockville Pike blocked after Metrobus crash

Northbound lanes of Rockville Pike in Bethesda were expected to remain closed through the Friday morning rush hour after a Metro bus crashed at about 7 p.m. Thursday. The lanes remained blocked during Friday’s rush hours and reopened about 9:30 a.m.

The bus driver was “pinned” for about 40 minutes while emergency crews worked to extricate him, according to police. He was taken to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries. [WJLA]

Police to honor chief at October ceremony

The Montgomery County Police Foundation will honor outgoing chief Tom Manger at its Leadership Legacy Dinner on October 16 at the Bethesda Country Club.

In addition, the Foundation will also award training and development scholarships to two officers demonstrating exceptional leadership.
