Four of America’s most diverse areas are in Montgomery County

Four of the 10 most diverse cities in the country are in Montgomery County, according to a study by Wallet Hub.

The finance website placed Gaithersburg, Germantown, Silver Spring and Rockville in the top 10, based on factors such as ethnoracial, linguistic, and place of birth diversity. [MCM]

State Senate approves bill to overturn post-Labor Day school start

The Maryland Senate on Tuesday approved a bill that would overturn Gov. Larry Hogan’s order that public schools start classes after Labor Day.

The bill, which passed 31-13, calls for returning control over school calendars to local school board and will now head to the House of Delegates for consideration. [Baltimore Sun]

Fight at Magruder High sends one to hospital

One Magruder High School freshman was taken to the hospital with a fractured skull after an altercation Tuesday afternoon, according to county police.
