A Germantown man was charged with multiple counts of arson in connection to several fires in Clarksburg, according to Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service spokesman Pete Piringer.
Jimmy Tejada, 22, was arrested by fire and explosive investigators Feb. 8 for his involvement in a vehicle fire the same day on Brick Haven Way, Piringer reported.
Witnesses in the neighborhood and video surveillance allowed investigators to connect him to a Feb. 1 townhouse fire that displaced five people, Piringer said.
Tejada was charged with two counts of first-degree arson, one count of second-degree arson and five counts of reckless endangerment. A preliminary hearing in Rockville District Court is scheduled for March 8.
Tejada was charged in a separate case with two counts of malicious destruction of property over $1,000 for a Jan. 5 incident. He is being held in a Montgomery County detention center.
Online records do not list a defense attorney for Tejada.
