Legislators to hold hearing on bill that could slow down I-270, I-495 expansion
Maryland legislators in Annapolis will hold a hearing Thursday on a bill that would give Montgomery, Frederick and Prince George’s counties the authority to block Republican Gov. Larry Hogan’s planned $9 billion toll road expansion on Interstates 270 and 495. The bill in the House in being sponsored by Baltimore City Democratic Del. Brooke Lierman, while the Senate version is sponsored by Sen. William Smith Jr., a Montgomery County Democrat. [Maryland Matters]
Montgomery Blair students win $25,000 in science competition
Montgomery Blair High School students Grace Cai, Kevin Qian and Daniel Schaffer won $25,000 who finished as finalists in the Regeneron Science Talent Search, a national science and math competition for teens. All finalists will meet in Washington in March for a chance to win up to $250,000 in scholarship money [WJLA].
