Teacher dies in single-vehicle crash in Olney Sunday

Bradley Nolan Watts, of Olney, died early Sunday morning after Montgomery County police say the 38-year-old’s 2007 Toyota Corolla struck a utility pole traveling north on Bowie Mill Road at 2:46 a.m. According to police, Watts was a teacher in Montgomery County Public Schools’ Interim Instructional Services department [Fox 5]

11 hikers found after getting lost on Billy Goat Trail Sunday night

After becoming lost on the Billy Goat Trail in the C&O National Park Sunday night, 11 hikers were found and “led out to safety” according to Montgomery County Fire & Rescue spokesman Pete Piringer. Aiding in the rescue were firefighters from the Naval installation at Carderock, a U.S. Park Police helicopter and search boats. [Washington Post]

Two women injured, two dogs killed in incident Saturday

Two women are in the hospital after Montgomery County Police say they were attacked by two dogs inside a house on the 18000 block of Singing Pine Circle in Montgomery Village Saturday night. According to police spokesman C. Thomas Jordan, one woman escaped the house after being injured by the dogs around 9 p.m. and informed the officers that the other woman was still being attacked. After trying to free the second woman, police shot the two dogs. Both animals died at the scene. [WTOP]
