A Montgomery County man, sentenced last week in federal court to 420 years in prison after he admitted videotaping his sexual abuse of three girls, is scheduled to be sentenced later this month in county court on similar charges.

Kyle Stephen Thompson, 33, was convicted on 18 counts of production of child pornography by a federal jury on Sept. 13, 2018. U.S. District Judge Theodore D. Chuang sentenced him last week and a spokeswoman for federal prosecutors said there is no parole in the federal system.

Thompson, of Burtonsville, is scheduled to be sentenced later this month in Montgomery County Circuit Court after he pled guilty to 10 counts of various sexual offenses. Prosecutors are expected to ask the judge for a sentence of life in prison.

Thompson’s defense attorneys declined to comment, citing office policy.

The prosecutor’s office said Thompson did know the victims but did not elaborate on the relationship.

Federal prosecutors said Thompson assaulted the three girls – who were 2 to 4-year-old at the time — from May 9, 2015, to January 28, 2017. A search warrant of his Burtonsville house uncovered a memory card hidden in a laundry room containing 18 videos of Thompson sexually abusing the victims.

“Kyle Thompson’s horrific sexual assaults on young girls would not have stopped without the work of the prosecutors, law enforcement agents, and witnesses in this case,” U.S. Attorney Robert K. Hur said in a statement. “Today’s sentence is a result of their efforts and ensures that Thompson will never be able to abuse a child again.”

The case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide program fighting child sexual exploitation and abuse, according to a statement from the prosecutor’s office.
