A man’s body found in Rock Creek Park near Rockville Saturday had been there for at least a day or two, authorities said.
Montgomery County police investigating the death could provide little additional information Monday afternoon.
The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner Office in Baltimore has not determined the identity of the person or a cause of death.
Police spokesman Capt. Tom Jordan said the case isn’t believed to be connected to any active missing person reports. Jordan did not have any information about the man’s age, what he was wearing or whether there were personal effects that could help with identification.
The body was found off a hiker-biker trail near a creek by Lake Bernard Frank, near Trailway Drive, and investigators are trying to determine how long it had been there. Preliminary evidence suggested it had been there before Friday’s snow showers.
The Meadowside trail system winds seven miles through the park, including a shoreline trail at Lake Bernard Frank and connecting to Lake Needwood in the upper reaches of Rock Creek Park.
It was not clear who found the body.
