The two Silver Spring men arrested after a double homicide in White Oak on Monday had arranged a marijuana deal with the two victims, authorities said Friday.

Dontaye Jamahl Hunt, 18, was charged with two counts of first-degree murder in the deaths of Jordan Alexander Radway and Christian Deon Roberts.

Noah Foster Barnett, 18, was charged with conspiracy to distribute marijuana.

The arrests were announced Thursday night and on Friday afternoon, a judge ordered Hunt held without bond until a hearing in a month.

Montgomery County major crimes detectives found Barnett had contacted Radway on Jan. 28 to set up a drug deal between Radway and Hunt, police said. Radway agreed, and contacted Roberts, of Silver Spring, to obtain the marijuana. Contact was then made between Hunt and Radway.

Hunt met with Radway, of Laurel, and Roberts in the 11600 block of Stewart Lane near the White Oak Shopping Center at 8:27 p.m., police said. Witnesses heard gunshots and saw a vehicle speeding from the scene, and a call came in to 911 emergency dispatchers at 8:37 p.m. after a vehicle with Radway and Roberts crashed into parked cars.

Detectives obtained a  warrant for Hunt on Jan. 30 and arrested him later that day. Barnett was arrested on Jan. 31.

Hunt and Barnett were being held in the county’s detention center. A preliminary hearing for Hunt is scheduled for March 1.

A defense attorney listed in online court records for Hunt could not be immediately reached after Friday’s hearing.

There have been three homicides in the county this year and in all cases, the police made swift arrests.

Ousmane Camara, 26, was charged with fatally stabbing his mother in the family’s Aspen Hill home on Tuesday.
