With an early dismissal Friday, county students will end the week without a full day of classes.
All Montgomery County Public Schools will close 2.5 hours early Friday, according to the school system, due to “emergency weather conditions.”
Friday’s early dismissal announcement was made at about 10:20 a.m., about 90 minutes after buses had wrapped up dropping off students at some schools.
There were no classes Monday for a teacher planning day, and every other day this week has been met with weather-related cancellations, delays or early dismissals.
Neighboring Howard and Prince George’s counties also announced early school closings on Friday.
Snow began early Friday with temperatures in the low 20s. Snow was expected to total between 1 and 2 inches and stop briefly in the afternoon before picking up again around 3 p.m. Saturday is expected to be warmer, with high temperatures in the mid-40s.
Wednesday’s school closures extended students’ school year by a day, as no more inclement weather or emergency days are built into the schedule. Further full-day closures will have to be made up during spring break or teacher planning days.
