Indian restaurant Lotus Grill and Bar will be opening in downtown Bethesda in early March.

Lotus will be at 4929 Elm St., which has been vacant since the national fast-casual chain Noodles & Company closed in April 2017.

Owner Suman Pradhan said an upscale menu will feature homemade tacos and pizza in addition to traditional Indian items such as butter chicken and chicken tikka masala.

The restaurant will have a tandoori clay oven for bread, tacos and pizza dough.

Lotus will likely arrive the second week of March, Pradhan said. There will be a grand opening celebration one week after the initial opening.

A sign on the door states the restaurant is looking for servers, bartenders and a Mexican cuisine chef.

The county Department of Permitting and Services confirmed its review of the Lotus commercial building permit has been completed.
