Speed camera behind portable bathroom on I-270 will begin issuing citations Thursday

Camouflaged behind a portable toilet on the shoulder of Interstate 270 near the construction zone leading up to the construction road at the future Watkins Road interchange, a state-owned camera will begin on Thursday issuing citations to speeding drivers.

Motorists will be issued citations if they pass the camera traveling 12 mph or more over the posted speed limit of 55 mph. [WUSA]

Cold weather bursts pipe at Wheaton High School

Montgomery County school officials say cold weather was the culprit of flooding at Wheaton High School Tuesday morning.

A frozen fire sprinkler burst in the school around 7 a.m., sending a black liquid down a stairwell and coating walls. Classes continued as scheduled. [WJLA]

Olney restaurant tabbed as one of area’s best

Brew Belly, known for its Bigfoot and yeti murals on its outer facades, has a cheesesteak worth a trip or two to Olney, according to a Washington Post review. All menu items at the restaurant are priced between $6 and $12. [Washington Post]
