Updated 4:10 p.m. Wednesday: One man was killed and two others injured after a two-vehicle crash near Damascus, county police said.
Police said the preliminary investigation revealed a 1997 Toyota Corolla was northbound on Route 27, Ridge Road, and a 2015 Toyota Avalon was southbound when they collided for reasons still under investigation.
Police responded to the call at 7:49 a.m. to the 28500 block of Ridge Road.
The driver of the Corolla died at the scene, police said. He was identified on Wednesday as Wesley Delimon Tibbs III, 32, of the 4700 block of Hardwood Court in Mount Airy.
His 24-year-old female passenger was taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries, but is expected to survive.
The driver of the Avalon was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, police said.
Ridge Road was reopened at around 12:30 p.m.
