Kirwan Commission calls for $3.8 billion in new education spending

The Kirwan Commission, a group tasked with improving Maryland’s public schools, issued its final proposal late last week with a price tag of $3.8 billion a year in new spending.

The commission will continue work this year to determine how much of its proposal should be paid by the state and how much by local governments. [Baltimore Sun]

Metro Red Line riders to face disruptions this summer for Purple Line construction

Purple Line lightrail construction in the downtown Silver Spring area this summer will cause significant delays for riders of the Metro Red Line.
