Inside Making a Murderer—Friday night—The Fillmore Silver Spring
Fans of Netflix’s hit true crime show, Making a Murderer, will want to snag a ticket to this event. Making a Murderer follows the dubious circumstances of Steven Avery and Brendan Dassey’s murder convictions. The host of the wrongful conviction podcast “Undisclosed” will moderate a conversation with Dassey’s lawyers. The event begins at 8 p.m.; tickets are $35.
The Velveteen Rabbit—Friday through Sunday—The Puppet Co., Glen Echo
Touring puppet company Applause Unlimited’s production of The Velveteen Rabbit begins Friday. The classic Margery Williams story follows a plush rabbit that, through his owner’s love, becomes animate. The Friday show begins at 11 a.m., and the Saturday and Sunday shows begin at 11:30 a.m. Tickets are $12.
MoComCon—Saturday—Silver Spring Library
MoComCon returns to the Silver Spring Library noon to 4 p.m. this Saturday. The comic convention, which includes scavenger hunts, escape rooms, writing workshops and a cosplay contest, is in its third year. The event is free and open to the public.
Hops & Hatha—Sunday morning—Astro Lab Brewing, Silver Spring
Silver Spring’s newest brewery, which opened in October, will host a yoga and beer event Sunday morning at 11:30 a.m. The $20 ticket price includes a one-hour “easygoing” Hatha flow class and a pint of beer to enjoy afterward.
Step Afrika!—Sunday night—Music Center at Strathmore
Step Afrika! celebrates its 25th anniversary Sunday at 5 p.m. with a retrospective of the company’s favorite works. Dem Raider Boyz Step Squad from NBC’s World of Dance will open. The step performance will draw from various genres of dance including hip hop, African American spirituals and contemporary. Tickets start at $35.
