Exercise company Onelife Fitness has opened its newest club in Rockville, the first in Montgomery County.

The 65,000-square-foot building at 1407 Research Blvd. has indoor and outdoor turf training areas, an indoor salt water pool and an indoor basketball court.

Onelife Fitness is a subsidiary of Virginia-based US Fitness Holdings, which also has Sport & Health clubs and is a development franchisee of Crunch Fitness. There are 31 locations across Georgia, Maryland, Missouri and Virginia.

Onelife Fitness has two clubs in Frederick and a pair in Hagerstown.

“We believe that the area of Rockville is great for our high-amenity, high-value club,” US Fitness co-chairman Kirk Galiani said. “The location that we chose is right off of Interstate 270 and Route 28 so it’s right off the highway, very accessible to the people that live and work in the Rockville area.”

The Rockville location will feature a host of programs and amenities, including a 3,000-square-foot Kids Club, more than 100 studio-quality classes per week and a hot yoga studio.

Onelife Fitness offers Coach by Color spin classes, HydroMassage and a small-group High Intensity Impact Training program.

“We built the club with all the amenities so that there is something that appeals to everybody,” Galiani said.

Galiani couldn’t divulge details about any future locations, but said the company was working on something else in Montgomery County. Feedback from the Rockville facility has been largely positive in the first weeks of operation.

“The response has been tremendous so far, it’s something that I think Rockville needed and wanted,” Galiani said.

Maryland has 694 health clubs and 1,107,026 residents visiting those facilities, according data collected by the International Health, Racquet and Sportsclub Association.

Health club membership across the country reached an all-time high in 2017, with 60.9 million members representing an increase of 6.3 percent from 2016, IHRSA Executive Vice President of Global Products Jay Ablondi said in the 2018 IHRSA consumer report.
