A North Potomac man who was fired Tuesday by the City of Rockville stole a $50,000 city dump truck and rammed into another dump truck before leading police on a slow-speed pursuit through an industrial business district, city police said.
Pierre Lawrence Lockhart, 39, a temporary city employee, was charged with unauthorized use of a vehicle, auto theft, driving under the influence and 19 additional traffic violations, according to city police.
Rockville police officers were called to the 14600 block of Rothgeb Drive at 10:54 a.m. after Lockhart allegedly boarded a 2006 Chevrolet dump truck valued at $50,000, struck another dump truck valued at more than $100,000 and fled, authorities said.
A Montgomery County officer located the truck at Crabbs Branch Way and Redland Road, but was unable to make a traffic stop, authorities said.
Officers pursued truck at speeds around 35 mph until a Rockville City officer was able to stop the truck.
There were no injuries. Attorney information was not available and Lockhart’s contact information could not be obtained.
