Woman who texted ‘still drunk’ pleads guilty in man’s death
A Hyattsville woman pleaded guilty this week to killing a person while driving under the influence of alcohol.
Bianca Paola Machuca will be sentenced Jan. 25 for killing 38-year-old Silver Spring resident Edwin Diaz in the early morning hours of June 9. [WJLA]
Germantown school burglar caught on camera
A person who entered the Butler Montessori School through an unlocked door the evening of Dec. 27 was caught on surveillance camera, according to police.
The preliminary investigation did not uncover any stolen items. [MCP]
Drug overdose deaths fell in first half of 2018
From January to June of 2017, 44 people died from drug overdoses in Montgomery County, compared to 41 in the same span in 2018, according to the Maryland Department of Health.
The department says fentanyl is the primary cause of drug-related deaths in the state. [WDVM]
