Silver Spring man sentenced to 45 years for killing fiancee

A 51-year-old Silver Spring man was sentenced Wednesday to life in prison for fatally strangling his fiancee in 2017, but a Montgomery County circuit court judge suspended all but 45 years.

The judge ordered Anthony Strong to serve five years of probation if released. [WTOP]

Police searching for missing Rockville man

Montgomery County police are asking for the public’s help in locating a Rockville man last seen nearly a week ago.

James Schenk, 40, was last seen Dec. 27 and is described as white, approximately 6 feet tall and 265 pounds. He has black hair and brown eyes. [WJLA]

Board of Public Works votes down ‘fracked gas’ pipeline

The state Board of Public Works on Wednesday unanimously rejected plans for a pipeline to carry fracked gas through western Maryland.
