Garden of Lights—Friday through Monday—Brookside Gardens, Wheaton
Brookside Gardens has several holiday attractions this holiday weekend. The gardens, which are open 5:30 p.m. to 10 p.m., are decked out in lights and the conservatory will have model trains on display. Hot cocoa will be served at the visitors center. Admission costs $30 per car Friday and Saturday, and $25 per car on Monday.
Salute to Vienna New Year’s Concert—Sunday—The Music Center at Strathmore, North Bethesda
The concert, which features Strauss Symphony of America, ballroom dancers and Austrian ballet dancers, is produced by Attila Glatz Concert Productions. The concert begins at 3 p.m. Tickets start at $49.
New Year’s Eve Swing Dance—Monday night—Spanish Ballroom at Glen Echo Park
Glen Echo Park is throwing a 50s-style prom party. The party kicks off with a swing lesson from 8 to 9 p.m. Then Blair Carman and the Belleview Boys will perform hits from Elvis Presley, Jerry Lee Lewis and Hank Williams. The party ends at 12:30 a.m. Tickets cost $25 in advance and $35 at the door.
BlackRock’n New Year’s Eve—Monday night—Black Rock, Germantown
BlackRock’s New Year’s Eve bash will feature poker games, prizes and a live DJ. A $90 adult ticket includes one drink plus a complementary champagne toast at midnight. The party goes from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. Tickets for couples cost $150; tickets for children cost $45.
New Beer’s Eve—Monday night—Denizens Brewing Co., Silver Spring
A $62 ticket to the Silver Spring brewery’s New Year’s Eve event includes an open bar (beer, wine and meade) and an appetizer buffet. Tax and gratuity are included in the price of the ticket. The event will also feature a live DJ. The party goes from 9 p.m. until 2 a.m.
New Year’s Eve Live—Monday night—Bethesda Blues & Jazz Supper Club
Washington, D.C. go-go band Experience Unlimited, featuring original frontman Sugar Bear, will perform. The event will feature a midnight balloon drop, and MAJIC 102.3 and 92.7-FM will broadcast live from the party, which begins at 9 p.m. Tickets start at $59.50.
