Bethesda Bagels is coming to the Wildwood Shopping Center in Bethesda in late summer 2019.

The location will be the fifth store for the company, and its first return to its namesake region since the original shop opened in 1982 at 4819 Bethesda Ave.

The new shop will occupy the former Coco Blanca space at 10241 Old Georgetown Road.

Bethesda Bagels branched into the District and Virginia before adding in Montgomery County.

“We’re always looking for the right opportunities and we’ve had our eye on Wildwood for a few years now,” Bethesda Bagels president Danny Fleishman said. “We love the area, and it’s a little bit farther north from our other Bethesda location although not too far.”

The menu will match the current locations and the Wildwood will be hiring about 15 employees to start, Fleishman said.

Bethesda Bagels offers breakfast sandwiches and lunch items such as soup, New York-style pizza and bagel dogs. The lunch selection also includes a variety of sandwiches, from chicken salad and turkey pastrami to roast beef and steak-and-cheese.

The breakfast options run about $5 to $6 and lunch offerings between $8 and $10.

The Wildwood property is about four miles from the current Bethesda location, but Fleishman expects to attract a separate part of the community.

“It might take a little bit from Bethesda, but I think it’s a completely different market in terms of the people who work in the area and might not necessarily want to come all the way into Bethesda,” Fleishman said. “It definitely makes it more accessible.”
