Most state and federal offices will be closed Christmas Eve Monday and Tuesday, Christmas Day.

Gov. Larry Hogan this week declared that Maryland state government agencies, offices and courts will be closed Monday in observance of Christmas Eve.

“Since this year Christmas falls on Tuesday and is a state holiday, I am also declaring this Christmas Eve as a holiday so that our hard-working employees can spend more time enjoying the holidays with their loved ones,” Hogan said in a statement. “This is just another way we can show our appreciation to our dedicated state workers.”

President Trump on Dec. 18 issued an executive order to close most federal offices on Dec. 24. Mail will be delivered Monday although some post office branches could close early Dec. 24.
