Senate passes bill to avoid shutdown
The Senate passed a stopgap spending bill on Wednesday to keep the government running until Feb. 8. The bill is expected to be approved by the House on Thursday. From there it will be sent to President Donald Trump for authorization before the deadline at midnight Friday. [New York Times]
Transportation Planning Board adopts resolution
The legislation could lead to easier Metro access and improved public transportation standards across the state. The Maryland tolling amendment was rejected, which would’ve removed language calling for toll lanes such as the ones planned for the Capital Beltway and Interstate 270. The resolution urges transportation agencies to develop a consistent tolling policy for express lanes. [WTOP]
First licensed marijuana grower in Maryland on probation
ForwardGro has agreed to pay $125,000 and destroy cannabis products in its inventory after state officials found it had used unauthorized pesticides. The company’s products have been removed from all Maryland dispensaries. The administrative hold on the company was lifted Tuesday, but it will still be on probation for two years and face enhanced state inspections. There are 14 licensed marijuana dispensaries in Montgomery County, but no licensed growers as of Dec. 10. [Washington Post]
