Police issue Silver Alert for Gaithersburg woman

Montgomery County Police have issued a Silver Alert for 73-year-old Sydney Morse, who has dementia. Morse was last known to be at the Safeway at 20211 Goshen Road in Gaithersburg at around 7 p.m.  Monday. She was wearing a gray zip-up hoodie and black leggings. [Fox 5]

Alcohol Holiday Task Force arrests 35 in fifth week

The county task force is up to 208 driving-under-the-influence arrests in five weeks of operation that began Nov. 14. The team will continue its work up until Jan. 5. [Patch]

Holiday air travel to have record number of fliers, better screening

A record 45.7 million people are expected to fly on domestic airlines from Dec. 20 to Jan. 6, but improved technology should keep those lines moving. The Transportation Security Administration is now using improved conveyor belts and 3-D scanning machines, and  airlines and airports are testing biometric screening of passengers’ passports or other photo IDs.
