Naval officials address Walter Reed alert error

Reps. C.A. Dutch Ruppersberger and Jamie Raskin of Maryland met with Navy officials this week regarding the false alert of an active shooter at Walter Reed National Medical Center last month. Ruppersberger and Raskin said training requirements are being updated and Navy officials are reevaluated who has authorization to use the alert system. [New Castle News]

Trio of local Reps.-elect visit Israel

Reps.-elect Elaine Luria (D-Va.), David Trone (D-Md.) and Denver Riggleman (R-Va.) received an intro course on U.S.-Israel relations this past week, journeying to the country for a five-day courtesy of the sponsored by the American Israel Education Fund. The group met with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and took a helicopter tour of the Gaza Strip. [Washington Post]

Rockville golf course to close

RedGate golf course will close in January, and the Rockville Mayor and Town Council are discussing whether to turn the property into a park or sell it for development. The city of Rockville owns the course, but transferred management to  Billy Casper Golf in 2012. Rockville Mayor Bridget Donnell Newton said the company failed to maintain the course. The city’s agreement with BCG expires in January. [Montgomery County Sentinel]
