Updated: Teenager Crashes Stolen Vehicle in Bethesda

Accident occurred early Thursday near Walter Johnson High School after pursuit

Updated at 1:05 p.m. on Thursday: A teenage male was injured after crashing a stolen vehicle near Walter Johnson High School early Thursday morning.

At approximately 1:38 a.m., Montgomery County police attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a vehicle on southbound I-270, near Falls Road in Rockville, according to Sgt. Rebecca Innocenti, a police spokesperson.

Innocenti reported there were two male passengers in the vehicle, one juvenile and one adult.

The teenage driver fled the scene and led police on a roughly 7-mile pursuit that ended when the suspect vehicle crashed into a pole at the intersection of West Lake and Rock Spring drives, near Walter Johnson High School in Bethesda. Police determined the vehicle had been reported stolen.

The driver and the two passengers were taken into custody. Innocenti said the driver and juvenile passenger will be charged as juveniles and the third passenger will be charged as an adult.
