The Bethesda bicyclist seriously injured in a Nov. 16 collision with a Montgomery County marked police vehicle remains hospitalized, according to police.

The victim has been identified as Donald Price, 53, of the 4000 block of Jones Bridge Road. Price was struck by Officer James O’Rourke at approximately 11:10 p.m. near the intersection of Connecticut Avenue and Jones Bridge Road in Chevy Chase, police said.

Price sustained life-threatening injuries and was taken to a local hospital. He was not identified publicly until five days after the incident because authorities faced difficulties locating his family members, police said. O’Rourke was not injured in the collision.

The initial investigation revealed O’Rourke was heading southbound in a 2016 Ford Interceptor as he responded to a routine call for service. The officer did not have his emergency equipment activated at the time of the collision, police said. The investigation into O’Rourke’s involvement is ongoing, according to police.
