The Montgomery County Planning Board will hold a public hearing Thursday to discuss a proposed mixed-use development project on Auburn Avenue in Bethesda.
The 4915 Auburn Avenue project proposes 162,500 square feet – or 180 units – of multi-family residential housing development, as well as 12,500 square feet of retail space. The applicant, Auburn Building Associates, has proposed 32 of the 180 residential units be designated as moderately priced dwelling units (MPDU), according to the preliminary plan submitted to the Planning Board.
Proposed to sit on five lots west of Norfolk Avenue, plans call for a two- to three-story building containing residences and retail space, and an 11-story mixed-use building.
Montgomery County planning staff recommends the board approve the project, but require a maximum building height of 122 feet and that the applicant submit architectural design concepts to the Bethesda Downtown Design Advisory Panel for feedback prior to the board’s consideration of the project’s site plan, expected to be submitted at a later date.
Also included in the preliminary plan is approximately 2,500 square feet of open space, with its location and details to be determined.
