Police Blotter: Four Vehicles Stolen in Bethesda; Several Armed Robberies in Silver Spring

Crimes reported to Montgomery County and Rockville police from Oct. 21 through Nov. 3

Bethesda

Thefts from vehicles

Cash was taken from a vehicle on Morgan Drive on Oct. 21 and 22. No forced entry was reported.
Cash and property were taken from multiple vehicles on McKinley Street, Rosewood Drive, and Glenwood and Arrowood roads on Oct. 19 and 22. No forced entry was reported.

Residential burglaries

Property was taken from a residence in the 8200 block of Wisconsin Avenue on Oct. 19 and 22. There were no signs of forced entry.

Property was taken on two occasions from a garage at a residence in the 5300 block of Willard Avenue on Oct. 22 and 23. Forced entry occurred in both incidents and a suspect has been arrested.
Property was taken after a door was left unlocked at a residence in the 9700 block of Corkran Lane on Oct. 24.

Property was taken from a residence in the 3900 block of Adam Drive on Oct. 29. There were no signs of forced entry.

An attempted burglary occurred at Christ Lutheran Church of Bethesda at 8011 Old Georgetown Road on Oct. 19 and 22.

Commercial burglaries

Cash was taken from Family Cleaners at 10221 Old Georgetown Road on Oct. 27. Forced entry reported.

A 14-year-old suspect was arrested for taking merchandise from Verizon Wireless and Piercing Pagoda at Westfield Montgomery mall on Oct. 21. The suspect also allegedly stole property from multiple vehicles and attempted to steal one of the vehicles in the mall parking lot.

Property was taken from Ken Leiner Associates Inc. at 10401 Connecticut Ave. between Oct. 26 and 29. There were no signs of forced entry.

Vehicle thefts

A vehicle was taken from the 5300 block of Crown Street on Oct. 23. The vehicle was left unlocked with the key fob inside.

Two men were arrested for a pair of vehicle thefts in the area of McGrath Boulevard and Old Georgetown Road on Oct. 29 and 30.

Residential burglary and vehicle theft

Property and a vehicle were taken from a residence in the 4800 block of Topping Road on Oct. 28 and Nov. 3 after a door was left unlocked.

Rockville

Thefts from vehicles

Property and vehicle parts were taken from three vehicles between Oct. 21 and 22 on Dowgate Court, Twinbrook Parkway and Ardennes Avenue. No forced entry was reported.

Cash and property were taken from vehicles in the 1300 block of East Gude Drive and the 1600 block of Coral Sea Drive on Oct. 24 and 30. No forced entry was reported.

Rape

A rape occurred Oct. 22 at a parking garage on Fishers Lane. The suspect was arrested and charged with second-degree rape of a 17-year-old female.

Vehicle thefts

A vehicle was stolen Oct. 24 near Maryland Avenue and East Jefferson Street. The means of entry is not known.

A vehicle was stolen sometime between Nov. 5 and 6 from a parking garage near Courthouse Square. The keys had been left in the vehicle.

A vehicle was stolen from the 200 block of Spring Avenue sometime between Nov. 6 and 7.

A vehicle was stolen Nov. 1 from the 400 block of Cedar Lane. The keys had been left in the vehicle.

Residential burglary

Property was taken from a residence in the 10300 block of Sweetwood Avenue on Oct. 26. No signs of forced entry were reported.

Commercial burglary

A male suspect took cash from Tara Thai restaurant at 12071 Rockville Pike on Nov. 2. Forced entry was reported.

Property was taken from DARCARS Toyota at 15625 Frederick Road between Oct. 28 and 29 via forced entry.

Theft and assault

A 22-year-old female was arrested Nov. 7 after an incident near the intersection of Beall Avenue and North Adams Street and charged with theft, second-degree assault on a police officer, resisting arrest, intoxicated endangerment and failure to obey a lawful order.

Attempted burglary and assault

A 27-year-old male was arrested Nov. 16 and charged with attempted burglary, disorderly conduct, obstructing/resisting arrest and second-degree assault on a police officer after an incident that happened in the 800 block of College Parkway.

Strong-arm robbery and theft

A 33-year-old man was arrested for strong-arm robbery and theft after an incident that occurred in the 12900 block of Twinbrook Parkway on Nov. 1.

Aggravated assault

A man displayed a weapon as part of an aggravated assault that occurred between two motorists near Edwards Ferry Road and Club Hollow Road on Oct. 31.

Silver Spring

Thefts from vehicles

Cash and property were taken from several vehicles on 16th Street, East West Highway, Fidler Lane, Blair Mill Way, and Chicago, Wayne and Eastern avenues between Oct. 23 and 27. Forced entry was reported on multiple occasions.

Cash and property were taken from four vehicles in the 900 block of Wayne Avenue between Oct. 31 and Nov. 1, with forced entry reported on two occasions.

Armed robberies

Cash and property were taken from a man in the 900 block of Ellsworth Drive on Oct. 23. Police suspect two men, one of whom displayed a weapon.

A woman took another woman’s property in a strong-arm robbery on Oct. 29 in the 8700 block of First Street.

Approximately eight suspects were involved in two armed robberies in the 8400 and 8600 blocks of Colesville Road on Nov. 3. Weapons were displayed in both incidents and a man was assaulted in the second occasion. Two Washington, D.C., men were arrested.

Property was taken and a man was assaulted by eight to 10 suspects in an armed robbery in the 11100 block of New Hampshire Avenue on Nov. 2.

Strong-arm robbery

Property was taken from a man in the 8500 block of Colesville Road on Oct. 26 in a strong-arm robbery. The three suspects assaulted the alleged victim during the incident.

Residential burglaries

Property was taken from a residence in the 1700 block of Myrtle Road on Oct. 22. A door was reported to have been left unlocked.

Property was taken from a residence in the 2100 block of Hanover Street on Oct. 25. A door was reported to have been left unlocked.

Commercial burglaries

Cash and merchandise were taken from Warren Street Deli at 9226 Warren St. on Oct. 25. Forced entry was reported.

Property was taken from a commercial storage unit at ProCAM at 11132 Oakleaf Drive on Oct. 21. Forced entry was reported.

Property was taken from Vicino Ristorante Italiano at 959 Sligo Ave. between Oct. 29 and 30 after a door was left unlocked.
